Privacy policy

HostingPrimer is a static, informational website. We do not run user accounts, we do not sell anything directly, and we do not ask you for personal information to read the site. This policy describes the limited data involved in visiting HostingPrimer and how it is handled. It was last reviewed on October 9, 2026.

What we collect

We do not ask you for personal information directly. Like almost all websites, our server or content-delivery provider may keep standard technical logs — such as IP addresses, browser type and pages requested — for security and to understand aggregate traffic. We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read, as explained in the next section. If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to send, and we use it only to reply.

Google Analytics

In plain terms, Google Analytics 4 is a measurement service from Google LLC and Google Ireland Ltd. that tells us which HostingPrimer pages people read. It records the pages viewed, the referring site (where you came from), an approximate location at city or country level, the type of device and browser, and session timing — when a visit starts and how long it lasts. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We have turned off its advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation, so the data is not used for advertising, and it is not sold.

Whether it runs depends on where you are. If you are in Europe — the EEA, the UK or Switzerland — a banner asks you first, and nothing is sent to Google unless you click Accept. Elsewhere, analytics is on by default, and you can switch it off at any time. A browser that sends the Global Privacy Control signal is treated as opted out. We store your answer in your browser's local storage, under the key analytics-consent, rather than in a cookie.

To change your analytics choice, use Cookie settings; it reopens the banner. You can read how Google handles data in Google's privacy policy, and install Google's opt-out add-on to block Google Analytics on every site.

Newsletter and cookies

If you subscribe to our occasional email updates, we store the address you provide solely to send those emails, and you can unsubscribe at any time. The site's own cookies are Google Analytics' _ga and _ga_<ID>, which last up to 2 years and are set only after analytics is allowed; any set by third parties, such as when you follow an outbound link, are governed by those parties' own policies. We do not build advertising profiles.

Affiliate links

A few pages contain affiliate links. When you click one, the destination company may set a cookie to record that the visit came from us, so any sale can be attributed. This is standard affiliate tracking and is handled entirely by the retailer, not by us. See our affiliate disclosure for more. You can decline these cookies through your browser settings.

Your choices

You can browse HostingPrimer without an account or an email address, switch analytics off at any time, block or clear cookies in your browser, and unsubscribe from our emails whenever you like.
